About Us

Founded in 1968 by Drs. Carlos Kemper and George Waldman, the Madras Medical Group Clinic, often referred to as ‘MMG’, has been providing comprehensive medical services in Madras for over 40 years.  In 1973 the clinic, following the addition of Drs. Bud Beamer and Douglas Lieuallen, became a state recognized Professional Corporation and was renamed Madras Medical Group PC.  In 2016, Madras Medical Group PC, now under the physician ownership of Drs. Gary Plant and Kristine Delamarter, purchased the building and adjoining land to expand and enhance our mission of being the provider of choice for primary care in Jefferson County.  Our first action following the acquisition was to partner with Interpath Labs of Pendleton OR to provide in-house lab services.  This was followed by a major painting effort to improve the internal appearance and we updated our décor.

At the core of the organizational structure is a group of physicians working together with physician assistants specializing in family medicine.  Each provider offers continuing, premier, full-family care for patients of all ages coordinated with an emphasis on superior quality.  Other family medicine specialty interests include complete maternity care including C-sections, preventative health for adults and children, care for chronic conditions and diseases, and end of life care.

MMG is committed to supporting many community programs which emphasize health, wellness, and personal improvement.  As a benefit to the local youth, the providers offer free sports physicals each year.  This service has allowed thousands of children involved with sports to get their regular health exams at no charge.

During January 2006, MMG was recognized for adopting standards created from the American Medical Student Association.  These standards were put in place to reduce pharmaceutical sales representatives from making unscheduled visits to the clinic for promotional purposes.  Our decision to move this direction is still recognized today as a leading-edge practice that continues to be adopted by other organizations.

Since 2003, the practice has hosted visiting medical students from Oregon Health Science University, and in 2005 and 2008 the MMG providers received the Community Preceptor Award from OHSU.  This award is presented to those providers who display dedication to enhancing the education of OHSU medical students.  In 2016, the practice established a hosting relationship Pacific University (Forest Grove OR) for their Physician Assistant program.
